Cuban bread in an AGA

Most of you who visit here also visit http://ipodmomma.blogspot.com/ . If you haven't met her yet, you're missing a great treat. (I just typed threat and had to go back quickly and fix it).

I usually copy her recipes over here but her recipe for Cuban bread comes with photos and a couple of posts below that she has a photo of her AGA. The link should take you there; she's also on my now functioning blogroll.

The recipe looks fairly basic and the photos made me want to run for the kitchen and start baking. I don't have a bread machine or an AGA but I have three strong little girls who love making a mess. I was kneading bread at their age and younger. Don't have an AGA either but my oven will probably suffice.

She is an American from my neck of the woods who has lived in Yorkshire for the last several years. Her posts and photos are full of family, food, inspiration, and the English countryside. A lovely lady with a lovely family.

I've met so many wonderful people here. I know there is uglingess on the internet but not here and not at any of the sites I visit more than once.

I'll probably be back with a rundown later on but wanted to get this on here.

don't need an AGA or machine... this recipe practically cooks itself. in fact....

I have 6 loaves in the AGA right now. we had pizza for dinner, and Spencer was doing the crust, but thought he'd messed it up by putting the flour in before the yeast. so I made a quick Cuban bread, and at the end of it, his dough was fab, and so I popped 6 loaves in. I should go check on them....

just finished!!! look very nice...

ps... this is a very easy bread recipe, and a good way for anyone to start making bread... and so GOOD!!!!

Really learned a lot this morning. I always wondered what kind of weird stove Rachel Ray was using on "30 Minute Meals" on the cooking channel. I think it might be one of those AGA thingies. It's way retro, but it's hard to argue with the way that Cuban Bread came out, which by the way, is another first; never heard of Cuban Bread before either. Thanks for the link and hope all settles in for a great Christmas week for you and family, Ann.
