Our toilet is right near the counter (it's just below the roll of TP in this photo) and once, when I went to use the loo in the middle of the night, I woke up when my head hit the counter. Luckily, there was no damage to the counter.
I am so sorry to hear about Ray. We'll all keep good thoughts going for him and for you.
