Anyone for scones?

Before Blogger does it to me again, ipodmomma in England has presented us with a scone (or tea loaf) recipe. I may be back later but it's been a quiet day and possibly I said it all earlier (twice).

========================

ps... here's the scone recipe... from a bread machine cookbook, supposed to be a tea loaf, but makes great scones. you can use a muffin tin, or just plop them right on the cookie sheet...

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
4 TBS milk
2 cups flour
2 tps baking powder
1 cup dried fruit

mix butter and sugar in large bowl. add eggs, milk, flour and baking powder, beat for 1-2 minutes. will be thick and sticky. fold in fruit, and place in muffin tin or onto cookie sheet. bake at 170 C, 375 F for 22 minutes or till golden and tester comes out clean.

makes about 10 scones.

alternately, put entire batter into pam-sprayed loaf tin, and bake for 30-40 minutes, until loaf tests done.

===============

I may be a celebrity (rather small size fish in very small puddle). I'll know more tomorrow.

Celebrity?? Curiousity is roused... but then you should be a celebrity - you are - even if you're not: if you see what I mean.

I adore a good scone but since I am now a vegan (for about 5 years) I have not had a decent scone that is not infused with animal products.

any suggestions?

The scone baked up as a very light, sweet butter-y cakes. It was good, though it was not at all like the heavy scones I have had before. They were pretty quick and easy -- I can certainly see making them for friends for tea.

Beth's testimonial put me over the edge. I may defy convention and bake tomorrow for breakfast. Think I can call them Superbowl Scones!! (go steelers!)
