Long Day

For anyone who hasn't seen it, I wrote a Father's Day greeting right below this post.

It's late and I've spent the last two hours dismantling my computer and putting it back together with the assistance of an online friend who may prefer to remain anonymous. (You know who you are and I couldn't have done it without you). I'd picked up a hijacker that was not only spitting popups at me but was freezing the whole system, usually in the middle of a comment on someone else's blog.

It had to be something the kids installed without asking. The games are notorious for it. Crossing my fingers, but it seems to be gone and the girls and I will have a little chat tomorrow.

I had my computer desk pulled out from the wall and the tower turned around and lying on its side. I was plugging and unplugging cords from the tower, the modem, and the router without the first idea of what I was doing. (While holding a cell phone to my ear). I don't want to think what he was going through on the other end. At least I could see what we were working on.

The good news is I may be able to do it myself next time and I understand somewhat how all the cords work. Just somewhat.

The girls spent part of the day at the lake with one of our friends. I drove them and picked them up. Tomorrow morning they will go to Vacation Bible school with the little boy across the street and to a kids' activity at the park in the early evening. Just Rochelle and Rebecca; it cuts off with kids beginning 6th grade I think.

Elcie sent her first email yesterday. I may have created a monster.

It's hot still at 1:00 a.m. and I'm really tired.

Thanks to everyone who left comments on the Father's Day Post. I tried to get back to as many of you as possible but with the computer locking up every few minutes, I may have missed a few. Tomorrow I'll sit Ray down at the computer so he can read the greetings from everyone. If that doesn't work, I'll print them out.

Talk to you tomorrow.

J loved it!!! :))) she yelled at me at first, saying, "you read my mail." but all Elcie wrote was what was in the subject title...

you know more about PC's than me! well done... we get that kind of garbage on occasion, via something J has downloaded. thankfully for me, Peter knows how to get rid of it.

back is better. will post soon. good thing too, as I rang the osteo, and there is nothing open today!

much love...

Hope your computer is all fixed!! Mine is still acting funny but I can use it a bit more now than before. I think it may be the hard drive itself that is causing me problems. Everything I have learned about computers and the Internet is self-taught - I am a quick learner. Anyways take care.

Didn't get to comment over the weekend - but Ray sure sounds like a great guy!
And wow - don't you ever stop?? lol. I get tired just reading about your days.
Glad the computer is fixed.

I hate it when things go bad with my computer because I know nothing about how things work! I have to depend on my son-in-law to figure things out for me!!

I am impressed with your dismantling and remantling abilities. Hopefully all that work will result in a better working puter. Darn things, kind of a love hate relationship, where would be be without them?

It's been mighty hot here too, but I very thankful that I didn't have to crawl behind a computer.

We've had terribly hot weather here too and lots of humidity, which is unusual for us!
I'm so impressed that you were able to repair your computer! I can do minor things, but beyond that I depend on a good friend who is my "behind the scenes computer wizard"

My oldest son is a computer programmer so he taught me a lot about computers while he was living at home and going through university so now I can pretty much fix anything on my puter that goes wrong. I've got friends calling me all the time to come get rid of some virus or trojan from their puter...some are pretty easy to get rid of but others take a bit more work!! Glad you were able to get yours all straightened out!! It's been very hot here too but we finally got some much needed rain last night.

Wow, yeah for you. I usually leave the fixing to my hubby:) It gives me a headache to try. I probably could but I'd rather leave the headache to him *grin*. It sounds like ya'll have a busy few days but then it always sounds busy at your place LOL. How on earth do you keep up.

So sorry to hear about the computer issues. I've had a few problems from time to time but lately, I've had decent anti-spyware and anti-virus software installed and have run them regularly (knock on wood).

The internet is becoming a big security hole that gets bigger and bigger each minute. Ugh...
