Staring Blankly at a Blank Page

A moth just flew up my computer screen. Glad I didn't have my mouth open. We get a lot of them in the summer and of course they're attracted to light. Idiotic things.

I have a load of clothes in the washer and just finished the last of the dishes. I am dripping with sweat and it's midnight. This is the coolest spot as long as I keep the fan pointed in my direction.

I thought there would be less laundry during the summer. I was wrong. They seem to change clothes a dozen times a day. It's mostly Rebecca. She hates even a speck of dirt on her clothes now. Until last year, she was the one up to her neck in a mudpuddle. Of course they're in and out of the hose. Rochelle will keep the same shorts and shirt or wear her bathing suit but Rebecca doesn't like clammy clothes and I can't convince her they're cooler.

So, I did absolutely nothing for most of the day. I did a little necessary housework before the day really heated up and then I sat down and watched the Giants. I have an online friend who likes the A's and we "watched" the game together. A's won. It was almost more fun than watching with someone who's cheering for the same team.

I never did leave the house after I got home. Ray wasn't expecting me back until tomorrow. I'd planned to go over anyway but it was just so hot. I ran out of milk this afternoon but I always keep evap and powdered around so that can wait until tomorrow too.

I'd thought about hanging out at the Barnes & Noble cafe for a while but even that took more energy than I had.

Speaking of B&N, a friend asked who they were. I forget sometimes that not everyone lives in the USA. They're our largest (I think) bookseller and they usually have a small cafe on the premises. Sometimes it's a Starbucks. Ours uses Starbucks products but keeps the B&N name. My younger son manages the cafe.

I didn't think I'd like the huge megastore but they do a good job here. And they treat their employees well. Both my sons and my dil work for them.

Supposed to be a few degrees cooler and then continue cooling through the week although it will stay in the 90's for a while. Tomorrow the girls need to get cracking on their messy area before they do anything else. We'll all pitch in while it's relatively cool and I'll get over to spend a little time with him.

Rochelle fell asleep in Elcie's bed. I moved her. Everyone is asleep now except me and I won't be far behind.

I started to skip writing tonight but I didn't want to let that last post stand as my final word for the day. I'm usually much more flexible when things don't go as I would like. I'm probably just a little tired.

Take care everybody.

Hi Ann,
I just loved the B & N stores, and have spent some happy hours in them.

What a disapointment for you missing the parade.

I don't know anyone who has a more legitimate reason to whine than you, so just go ahead anytime you want.

Hugs (wish I could give you a real one) jacqui

Dear Ann ~~ You did well coming up with
that post' You could safely take a day or so off while you are so tired, hot and stressed. We will be here waiting if you decide to do that.
I love book shops and buy quite a few. I must have about 10 books to read, that I have bought and not got time to read.
Look after yourself, Love, Merle.

Hi, I hadn't heard of B&N, but must say that I too love book stores. I'm addicted to books :0)

Hope things go better tomorrow

Sometimes I forget, too, that not everyone has what we have. Although, even though I do know what B&N is, we don't have one here, either. You have to go to a city for that.

It's cooled off a bit here, too. But it's also getting dry. We're badly in need of some rain. After just a week the corn is starting to look BAD.

Sounds like you are really sweltering over there!!
I remember our girls changing several times daily which added up to far too much laundry!!

How is Rays back, there are exercises to strengten the stomach muscles that will reduce his back pain,/difficuties with the discs, should that be the problem ?
Best wishes

What a shame your day on Sunday went pear-shaped!
You must be looking forward to the weather cooling off a little. I get so irritable when the weather is consistently hot.

I miss B & N. I was just telling my husband that one of the hardest things over here is not being able to go to the bookstore and browse with a cup of coffee. I used to do that to relax.

I understand the laundry issue. I'm convinced there are a team of elves dropping off other people's clothes in my hamper. Just as soon as I wash everything in the hamper--poof! It is full again.

I can't imagine living in that part of Cali without central air! Yikes it gets hot there. We got a little air conditioner for our bedroom in our house, and there was always one cool room. Our nice apts have central air which you make me VERY grateful for. Hoping your week starts out well.

Take care,

Our big bookstore chain is called Chapters although some of them are called Indigo. They were two chains at one time.

Excessive heat can get on everyone's nerves..I know it does to me! It seems to sap all the energy out of you. On top of that, you're worried about Ray and you have the 3 girls to watch over...you don't have much "me" time do you?!! Hopefully things will cool down soon and you'll have better days. Thinking of you a lot! Hugs!!

Morning Ann,
As hot as it's been here, I just know you're roasting. We don't have a/c, but seldom need it. Last night it cooled off beautifully and I slept better. It's supposed to be over 90ยบ today.
I'm off to hang my laundry outside :-)

All right, something is seriously wrong with my bloglines, because nothing showed up for you for the past three days! I came over from my blogroll, thinking that it had been a long time.

I'm sorry your tip didn't work out, and it seems like things might be just sort of piling up on you right now. And the heat just makes it even worse.

I hope that things start looking better, hey, you've got a new baby to coo over if you're feeling down. Hugs!

When I was young on hot nights like that we'd pull the mattresses out onto the porch and everyone would sleep outside.

Ah...the good old days.

Just stopping in to say hi, and best wishes for a big ol' cold front to move into your area. It's really hot here, too, this week, but not like what you're experiencing. My best to everyone.

It was a lot of fun "watching" the games all weekend. And, learning to use google chat! I'm much like Rebecca - not so much the dirt on my clothes thing (can you imagine? with all the time I spend with small children?) but with wet/clammy clothes. You're cooling to the nineties, and we're cooling to the eighties this week. Looking forward to being able to take K outside again!!

The laundry most certainly is never ending. I have one kiddo like that who typically can't stand a drop of water or a speck of dirt on her clothes. I swear she goes through a half-dozen pairs of socks alone some days!

Hi Ann,

Fresno has the closet (to me) B & N, but they moved a year or two ago further down Blackstone. And I don't like it as well, and it's further drive and kinda out of the way for us. So we don't go anymore, but I do occationally order off Barnes & Nobles.com.

Take care and get some rest, and try to stay cool if you can. This heat wave we're having is terrible on the body.

Janice~
