I Cancelled Yesterday Completely

At least for me. I'm sure the rest of you were leading busy, productive lives. Not this granny.

I ached all over yesterday. Even trying to sit at the computer was more than I could do. I drove the girls to school, put the laundry away, and went back to bed. Woke back up for a little while and back to bed again. The girls ate corn dogs and packaged potatoes for dinner and I managed to help with a little homework.

That was my entire day. I'm so glad they're old enough to fend for themselves once in a while although Ray was here and pitched in.

I'd planned to attend my writing class and then go watch Rent with Tim in the afternoon. I cancelled both. (I'm sure the writing class went on without me).

Tuesday had been one of those too much driving days. I don't know if I picked up whatever the girls had or if I was just tired but by the time I came home for the last time on the day, I was exhausted. (That's where I left off on the blog and never got back to it).

Ray's finished with therapy and that should make a big difference. Much as I enjoyed sitting in Starbucks, the drive clear across town and back was getting to me.

Anyhow, enough whining. The City has their annual Open House tonight and the girls want to go. There will be games in the alley behind City Hall and all the public works equipment will be on display. I think they'll discover they're a little old for it but I won't try to tell them that. They can find out for themselves. I doubt that Elcie will want to go but I'll take Rochelle and Rebecca. Maybe. Other than that I have nothing scheduled for today outside the house so I'm going to try for one more day of laziness and see if I bounce back. Today seems better than yesterday already.

Rebecca and Elcie both have the beginnings of colds. We're trying to make the school week with lots of tissues.

This isn't much of a post but I wanted to let you all know I was okay. I don't usually take two days off.

My sympathy to my Canadian friends, especially those living in Montreal. The United States has grown far too accustomed to school shootings but I think it's a rarity in Canada. (It's a rarity here too but w've still had far too many). What an awful day it must have been for them.

Thanks to all for the comments and good wishes. I'm sure I'm fine; just needed to regroup.

Take care everyone.

Rest seemed to help the most when I had this about ten days ago. I just ached everywhere and felt too tired to move.
It only lasted about 24 hours..
Feel better soon!

It is so ugly.

Thanks for your thoughts. We are only two hours away from Montreal, and the inlaws live there. I was also brought up there. This is the third incident over the past ten years or so. Why Montreal? Why shootings in schools?

Hugs Ann....so sorry to hear you're not feeling the best but with all the running around you've had to do, it's no wonder! Your body is just letting you know that it needs a rest!! Thank you for your thoughts on Canadian shooting that took place...I'm still in shock over it, it's starting to happen too often here. Such needless terror. I'm glad that Ray is done with his therapy...how is he feeling now? Take good care of yourself!! xoxo

Horrible thing about Montreal. It sure brought back some unhappy memories.

We had pizza delivered yesterday. Musta been one of those days.

I sounds as if you have all caught a little "bug" and need to rest. That's the best thing. A nice cozy blanket and a cuppa tea.

Yes, the shooting in Montreal was awful. It was an eerie reminder of the shooting there in 1989 at Ecole Polytechnique when 14 young women engineering students were killed by a man by the name of Marc Lepine. What on earth would cause someone to do something like that? It's heartbreaking.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Please sleep and keep yourself healthy - that is a problem with wonderful people like you - you forget yourself and need a holiday sometimes. I am glad you had a do nothing day, your body obvioiusly needed it. I would like to read about you doing that a little more often, ok.
Be healthy and big hug.

And ya the shooting in Montreal had me shuttering all day yesterday. Terrible, just terrible.

Ann,you have my sympathy because I had that earlier in the week. To the extent that my mobile phone rang and I never heard it. I woke up to find I had missed five calls!

Take care

We all need a rest some time. You do far too much for one person at times (as many women do) and deserve to slob out every now and again.

Sorry I've not been in contact. Not been feeling well (cold and PMT. Not a good mix) - but I've caught up with your posts. Glad the girls are feeling better, worried about Elcie's leg, pleased that Ray is getting on ok and relieved the BB gun thing got sorted. ]

And yes, kids CAN be amazingly stupid at times.

As can adults. Especially me.

;-)

Talk to you later, possibly.

Personally, I think you came down with something. If you won't stop, your body will make you take the rest you need. Hoping you feel better soon.

Hope you're feeling better now, Granny. I haven't felt well myself for the last couple of days. Nothing I could really put my finger on, just felt weak, had a nagging headache and just felt BLAH.

I feel for our Canadian neighbors as they deal with the school shooting. I live less than 10 miles from Westside where the 2 boys opened fire on students and teachers several years ago. I knew a couple of the students. I still don't understand any of them, and I guess I never will. So sad....

I think this sort of thing happens often between seasons. You need a bit of TLC and rest, otherwise who's going to help me with my bloomers?

take care of yourself Ann, your body knows when it needs to rest and throw off a bug.

Gran, have you really not posted here since Thursday? You okay?

Glad you're all fine, I had been noticing you not around as much too. Good for you, taking a day off. Sometimes a body just needs that.

Sadly, that shooting was Montreal's third. We've had one other in Alberta, but Montreal is at a pretty odd place in our country, I think, split and politically tense as it is. To be honest, it came a bit easier that this shooter did not come with an agenda as the one years back did.

The tragic situation in Montreal just breaks my heart. Those poor children!

I'm glad to hear that you like grew up with creamed dried beef over toast as well! :) I made it this weekend and Oronzo loved it! Snuggle Bug, not so much.
