What's Happening

Hi everybody. Yes, I'm still around but we seem to be keeping up with each other via FaceBook & Twitter.

Chilly here, I think fall has arrived in November and tomorrow will begin winter.

We're doing well for the most part. I'm trying to plan Thanksgiving dinner if I can decide when it will be. Jim is busy with the National Guard and Tim's work schedule is up in the air. Meantime, I have the ingredients ready to go but may have to move the date.

Other than that, not much news. The girls are doing well. Rochelle is living separately from her sisters and quite involved in cross-country running. Has won a medal. I don't hear quite as much from Rebecca (now 14) and Elcie (almost 17) but know they stay busy.

Not that I'm posting much over here but I've reluctantly enabled "verification" and am no longer allowing anonymous comments. I hated to do it but I've had a rash of spam, mostly unprintable and I'm getting tired of deleting. I stopped reading it a week ago so my apologies to any "anonymous" person who posted a legitimate comment.

Take care, Happy Thanksgiving to all in the USA, and I'll try to keep up on FaceBook.

I understand!! I seem to be spending lots of time on Facebook, while updating Nick's Bytes about 4 times a week and Alex's blog, Alexicon only once or twice a week.

The spam began a couple of weeks ago with advertising promos. The porn was a later addition. At that point, I decided to "take steps" much as I dislike censorship.

About that spam, is any of it in Japanese with links to oriental pron sites? Alex's blog has one post that receives it regularly. Thankfully, it's only that post which is a very old one.

It's too bad Blogger comments don't have a spam filter like the system on our blog. I have to delete a few and dish out some bans now and then, but most of the spam that comes our way gets eaten before it gets to us.

Nice to see an update, glad to hear that things are well. Enjoy dinner...whenever it happens.

Yay, Ann! It's so great to see you back. I can't believe how old the girls are now...doesn't time fly?

Shame about the spam...there are some strange people out there. But don't worry about putting word verification on...it's a good filter.

I hope this finds you well. I see you're on Facebook and Twitter. I did Facebook for a while but got a mild virus from that, so deleted it.

All the best for Thanksgiving.

Steve, the verification catches most of it and disallowing "anonymous" takes care of the rest.

Nick, I don't open the Japanese character emails (nor any from Nigeria, thanks very much) so I don't know what they are. The ones I received as "anon" comments were in gutter English.

Gutter English. I love it. And I think she feels bad about the word verification thing because those of us with the non-functioning eyes have trouble with 'em. There's the link that'll play a file, but if the box contains letters, the file won't play. But luckily I have my ways. So if it keeps out the porn, do it. At least you warn me so I can fire up my tools to get it done.

Carin, you were one of the people I thought of but there others (like me) whose arms aren't long enough for small print (even with bifocals these days). Nobody like it and I was very reluctant to put it back.

Glad you can work around it even though I'm doing much of my communication with email and FaceBook these days.

Well, well, well. :)

I do see you on FB from time to time though.

Enjoy your TG.

Gutter English...that covers about 95% of the hatemail Carin and I get and about 99% of all comments posted on Youtube videos.

And I know this has nothing to do with anything in the post here, but since you're a fan, congrats on Tim Lincecum getting the Cy Young this year, he certainly deserved it. Watch out for Cliff Lee though, that guy is something special.

Hi!
Verifications : 1 more reluctant addition to 'facts of life'.

You had celebrated your son's bday recently didnt you? How did it go?

The girls are growing up so quickly! Just wanted to say hello to you and check in on the family. Things here in Florida are very very different and I am making the best of it. I miss miss miss California :)
