I'll Be Needing Noah's Blueprints Shortly

It continues to rain although they say it should be moving on soon. One of our irrigation canal levees broke last night and flooded an entire section of town, ruining several homes (most of them mobiles). Another section has evacuated because they're in an area that usually floods with this kind of rain. A couple of schools shut down and people are camped out at the high school. The Fresno news showed one 79 year old man in Merced standing in the middle of his mobile home with water up to his knees. He said he'd lived in that location for 75 years but enough was enough - he was heading for higher ground. I hope he meant here on earth.

I'm in the center of town with the nearest creek or canal at least a mile away. Our largest creek hasn't overflowed yet and looks like it may be receding a bit. However, it's a mess around here. Nothing as bad as what the midwest states have been through though and I'm grateful for that.

Merced is almost flat as a pancake but a few areas, mainly around the creeks and canals, are a little lower and it doesn't take much for them to flood.

Picked up Narnia for the girls today and Brokeback Mountain for the adults. Splurge but they are always on special the first day so it wasn't bad (about the price of two movie tickets minus the popcorn each).

Ray went back to the emergency room about an hour ago and I'm once again sitting around waiting. Every time I think he's getting better it happens again. The girls were already down for the night so at least they won't be going to bed fretting over grandpa. I'm feeling a little better so that's something. As long as I don't try to raise my voice, I'm okay.

First day of the stupid standardized tests for Elcie today. She thinks they went okay but had trouble with the times tables from flash cards. They did it as an accommodation but she said she does better when they just ask her the questions. I don't care about the results anyhow and just told her to do her best and not worry.

I'm glad everyone who commented so far like the little kids and their definition of love. I asked my two youngest but I think I put them on the spot and they just stammered. They're old enough to be a little self-conscious. Little kids will say the first thing that pops into their heads. That's what makes them so cute and so honest.

I had a couple of thoughts earlier about a post but they will keep for another time. I probably won't go to bed but maybe I'll watch L&O SVU (just came on) and read for a while.

Talk to you later.

Yes, I thought about you instantly when I saw Merced. Glad you are ok.

I am sorry that your hubby is in the ER, I hope that everything turns out ok.

Granny, get some rest if you can.

Hugs....

darn it, whats going on with Ray. this is not fair, the poor guy spends more time in the hospital than home. i wish they would get to the bottom of it.

sorry about the flooding danger, i know how that is, we lived in salem oregon in 1996 when it rained so much and many areas were flooded. we were at a little higher elevation, but there was an overflow pond in our subdivision that was threatening homes, just a block over, but a little lower. i can remember leaving work, and driving to an obstetrician visit for being prego with dyl, and having the roadway blocked by water. the office was closed, and they had not bothered to call the patients with appts. and cancel. so i risked it for nothing.

sorry for the babble/ramble.

Ann, if you saw the same L&O SVU that I saw tonight, that was a nasty one (child killed).

Oh, I hope Ray feels better soon, and they can do something fo rhim to keep this from happening over and over.

Raining here, too. I think one of the reasons I changed my blog color is I jsut got so sick of the gloom. We had 25 rainy days in March, and so far April is a wash, too...

Poor Ann.

:-(

I'm thinking of you and the girls. I hope everything goes ok; that Ray gets better soon and you don't flood.

And well done for telling Elcie to:
"do her best and not worry".

It's amazing how many people forget to say that. It's true, and that was exactly what she needed.

Hugs x

It won't stop raining here either, and this is suposed to be "semi-arid" climate. Weird.

When I saw that parts of Merced were flooded- I instantly thought of you- I'm glad to hear that you're doing okay, and sorry about Ray being back in the hospital. I hope they find something to help him, so that he doesn't have to go back so often!

Well it's good you are safe, but that wild weather is popping up all over...

Hmm, I bet you know where my bald husband grew up, Turlock! Home of Turkey Tech. Hopefully no floods for you, you guys have way too much going on to have to deal with that.

Oh, Ann...All I can say is that I wish the man upstairs would throw some tranquility and good health your family’s way.

Thinking of you, the girls, and Ray...

One of the Phoenix TV stations just showed pictures of the broken levee in Merced. You've made national news again.

Hi Ann,

I will keep you and your and especially Ray in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope your home stays dry. We seem to be okay from the flooding here in Madera.

You told Elcie the right thing "not to worry", my daughter has to take the test to graduate from the eighth grade (the cat test) the week after Easter break.

My poor baby is real nerous about it, and I told her the same thing, "don't worry and just do your best." It's the "worry" that the problem!

Ah lady, you don't need the rain with the rest of this. Darn that Noah! Hope the sun will at least peek out for you soon.

Hugs and take care of yourself
