No Pictures Yet - Maybe Tomorrow

I woke up with the beginnings of a cold and the idea of a scanner is too much to contemplate right now.

We all made it to church this morning but I had to leave to take Ray home and then come back after the girls. Elcie is back to singing again, at least for now. By the time I got home for the third time (once to take Elcie early, once for us, and once to take Ray home) all I wanted to do was collapse.

Dinner was served on schedule thanks to our local Pizza Hut. I wanted Chinese but was outvoted. They haven't had pizza (except for the frozen variety) for a while and were suffering from pepperoni withdrawl. Poor deprived kids.

Our rain continues and is beginning to worry our growers. It's complicated but evidently if the blossoms remain on the fruit trees, they absorb moisture and cause the fruit to rot eventually. Tomatos are a problem as well.

Welcome to Jo, a Native American mother and granny now living in Utah. As of tonight, she has written her third post and somehow found her way here. She'd probably enjoy a welcome from some of us.

I can't remember if I mentioned that the church is holding a Seder followed by a potluck on Maundy Thursday. We had one (potluck - not Seder of course) on Christmas Eve for the whole community as this will be and it sounds great. I've attended one Seder hosted by a San Francisco friend at his home. A local Rabbi will preside over this one and I'll try very hard to be there with the girls. They know very little about other faiths so this will be a good experience for them.

Rebecca is having problems with the concept of Daylight Saving Time. She thinks if we set our clocks ahead she shouldn't go to school until an hour later (or earlier, she's not sure which). I tried to explain thatonly the clocks changed, not the school schedule and confused her even more. She did like the extra daylight though.

Rochelle and Rebecca went to the nickel arcade with a friend this afternoon. His mother took them, I picked them up. They get there no more than once a month and always have a great time. We don't have anything like a game boy or whatever the latest is so the only video games they see are on the computer. The arcade is fun and quite well run. The first couple of times (at night) I stayed but it seems to be very safe as long as they stay inside. They don't take much money so by an hour they were calling ready to come home.

Elcie doesn't mind not going. She's quite happy with not having sisters nagging.

I'm sitting here trying to decide whether to yawn or sneeze. My body is probably begging for an early night so I will try to make it so.

Talk to you later and I will try for the photos soon.

Hi Ann,

Gee, I hope you and yours are not getting our nasty flu? It awful coughing sneezing, sore thoat, and body aches, not to mention the congestion in the lungs and hundred plus temps.

Sounds like you were plenty busy today, and I think a early night would be just the right thing.

I left a comment at Jo's.

I hate Daylight Saving Time too.

Hi Granny. No chance of me having the time to post today; but had to drop in quick to scan over Roc Rebel G.

Glad the girls had fun. When mum and me go to Mumbles we always spend 20p each on a 2p Roulette game sometime during the visit, and it is so much fun! We usually win 10p or so, but lose it again pretty quickly.

Loved the cat/dog thing. I had seen it before, but it was still fun to read.

Talk to you soon.

x
PS: I tried texting you on Saturday (it'd be around 2:30 your time) but am not sure whether it got through.
Still. I tried.

:-)

Celebrating other rituals is always interesting, especially the Jewish religion and Passover.

Best wishes

Get well soon, Granny.

And if you really want to confuse Rebecca, tell her that the state of Indiana does not go on Daylight Savings Time and that there are some towns right on the state line in which you have to ask the dentist (or whoever) if they are on "fast time" or "slow time" when you make an appointment!

Here's my thoughts on explaining DST. Draw a line (vertical, I think) and make marks evenly along it. Those are the hour marks. Put the numbers for the hours (from 6 or so up to 8 or so) along one side. On the other side, indicate the daylight hours. Now explain that since mornings totally suck, there's no point in wasting perfectly good daylight on it, so cross out the hours and write the new numbers there.

I'll be going to two Seders on the twelfth. One that will be very short, very informal, and very reverent, and the other that will be long, serious, and irreverent (at best). Guess which one I like better?

Fluids, rest, and sunshine always help me when I'm about to be sick...

Hi Ann(granny),
I finally got a chance to check out your blog and I'm impressed. You seem way too young to have great-grandchildren, must have started very young. It sure seems like you have alot on your plate and yet I don't believe I saw you complain about any of it. Very impressive.
The Seder sounds like a great idea. I'd love to attend something like that with my kids someday so they can learn more about other religions as well.
Hope you aren't getting sick. I've had a sore throat and cough that I've been fighting for over 3 weeks now and it is no fun. Feel better soon.

Ann (another one - not granny)

Feel better soon, Ann! I'm STILL flu-y after over a week of being sick. ***crossing fingers Ann doesn't have the flu***

Hope you had an early night.
I too am attempting to battle the possible beginnings of a cold.
I always have problems with the daylight savings thing.

I think you church is the coolest and am going to steal the idea of having a seder and ask if our church can set something up too!

Get some rest! That's an order!

As for pizza, we are lucky enough to have a Costco nearby, even though they don't deliver we always get it from there.

And, very soon, your rain will become my rain as well!

Hope you are feeling better today! We have had a lot of rain, but fortunately for us, our area seems to really need it.

Pizza sounds good-- we have cajun chicken pasta on the stovetop, almost ready to go.

Granny you are on MY top 10 list.... do you KNOW how sad and soul sick I was when you came to visit me???? I donno about all the political stuff but you did save at least one persons life... mine. I swear I couldn't see the light that day, I was so full of sickness and hurt. But every day since that day I have felt a little bit better. I cannot thank you enough.... nor can my spouse. While you are not the only one, you, Val, and several others help me thru' those dark days. You will always be part of my top 10.
