Sunday Pot Luck and Farewell

This time I'm going to try typing first. The pics are of our pastors with the girls at the potluck and of my good friend Cindy, a second grade teacher at the girls' elementary school and the guitar player for the early service choir.

I was having problems with the lighting but you can see who they are. Charlotte was mugging with Rebecca in the one shot.

It was a success until we came home (skipped the picnic at the beach - one thing too many on the day and Ray wasn't feeling too well). Rochelle burst into tears because Charlotte and Andrew were leaving. I'd just gotten her calmed down when my neighbor called to tell me the church was on t.v. Sure enough, last Sunday's early service (the tongues of fire episode). We started watching and Rochelle started crying again when they reached the part where Andrew picked one girl up under each arm. I knew we televised but they'd changed the day and time and since we're usually there (and we can always borrow the tape) I hadn't thought about it. It had a wonderful shot of Andrew picking up Rochelle and Rebecca and the two of them dancing in the aisle to Days of Elijah. Great hand clapping song.

She's okay now but we all really loved those two.

Rochelle changed her mind again about summer school. She doesn't want to go to the school where it's scheduled and I said fine. I hadn't planned on doing it this summer to begin with. If she wakes up in the morning and decides she wants to go I'll drive her over there and pick her up. I'd posted about that school before. It has a high incidence of problems and I was relieved to get the girls into another middle school for the school year.

She's on the silver honor roll for the year and summer school is all repetition, usually of the earlier part of the year. We can spend time here reading and working on math. She'll be able to go to Vacation Bible School (their last year) and a week long activity at the park. She would have missed both of them.

The rest of the day was lazy. The girls all went to a yard sale down the street and came home with more stuffies (just what we need) and a whole sack of shoes and boots for a quarter each.

I almost forgot - I have a couple of pictures of their taste in shoes and boots. I'll get them on here. See if you can figure out which feet belong to each sister. Clue - Rochelle = unusual. I did mop the kitchen floor - tomorrow I'll get to that rug. I don't know how those little bits of paper get scattered in here but there's a new batch every other day or so. The box contains clothes to be put away from the other day - tomorrow or Tuesday for that as well when my friend is here to help. She and I do things in 30 minutes that would take me a couple of hours by myself.

Not much else. Giants lost again and I think the rest of the world is going soccer crazy. I've never been sure why it hasn't caught on much here. It's a good game.

See you tomorrow, probably.

Love the pictures of the girls. I could never get away with vertical and horizontal stripes. She looks great though! I think I need a friend like yours. Someone to come help me tidy up around here. Sometimes I am cleaning whole day and when I am done it looks like I did nothing! Can't figure that one out yet. And about the soccer, well even though my countrymen made it (T&T), I have not sat down to watch anybody play as of yet. I just checked the FIFA website and got the score. Atleast we didn't lose!

Hello Ann ~~ Some nice pics there. I would guess Rochelle has the shorter
jeans, Elcie the normal jeans and Rebecca the long version of Rochelles.
I am probably wrong, but it's fun.
Did Rochelle stick to her decision not to go to Summer School? They seem to have busy and interesting lives without
that as an extra. Take care, Merle.

Hi Ann,
great photos, you are doing well with them. I think you asked how I did mine, well I have them in Picasa first, then I export them to Desktop, and from there I can get them one at a time back to blogger, by clicking on the little picture, (second from right on my screen)in the new post screen and then going into Browse and choosing a picture, (in the browse screen you only get the numbers), so I always make a note of the numbers first. When you select them for posting they get posted from the first pic. upwards. Not sure if that will make sense, and like I said you seem to be doing very well by yourself.

When I add pictures to my posts I do it directly from the "new post" page on blogger. I just upload the pictures right from wherever I have them stored on my computer. Then if you're in the "edit HTML" view you can cut and paste to move them around to any order you want them in. If you're in the "compose" view it's easy to type between them. Simplest if you select "center" before you upload them, then they run right down the middle of your post.

Glad your party was a success.

Morning Ann,
Looks like the girls had some good finds at their yard sale. I love to go and find cutesy things for my patio/garden.
Maybe we'll have time once the kitchen is done...

Geez, been trying to leave a comment since last night and Blogger wouldn't even let me open the comment window...now it seems to be working so fingers crossed!! The girls seem to have had a good time but I know how hard it is to say goodbyes. They also found a good deal for those shoes/boots at that yard sale...see, you make room by getting rid of some stuff and more comes in! lol

maybe the girls can stay in touch... there's something very adult and cool about friends who live far away...

i miss the end-of-school scramble and the family juggle of summer classes and special events. but most of all, i miss the excitement of getting everybody ready for school again in the fall.
