A Poem For All Of Us

I'll do some catching up later tonight. I have new visitors to welcome and by then I may actually have something other than the heat wave to talk about. Yes, we're still melting, I've heard part of St. Louis is without power, and New York City is miserable.

Fresno, 60 miles to the south, is even hotter. They have established cooling centers and are providing free transportation. They've also stationed air conditioned buses around the city for easy access. It's especially important for seniors. Those without air conditioning are always at risk with this kind of heat.

Meantime I found this poem when I visiting my English friend Mother Damnable.

It says a lot about priorities in a very few words.

Talk to you later.

I've seen the poem before, but I need a constant reminder. I've printed it out and hung it on the fridge, and thank you for letting me leave the supper dishes in the sink until after the boys were in bed. We had a stressful evening and needed some playtime.

Hi, Gran. We're back home. Our power came back last night sometime. Such a relief. Are you being affected by the outages in California that we keep hearing about? I sure hope not. TC.

What a wonderful poem and it really makes you realize how many of us rush through life and don't spend enough time with our loved ones!

That is a great poem. Raising boys is such an awesome responsibility and that shows that the little things are also part of what counts in building their character.
I hope you guys get some relief soon!

I've been hearing your neck of the woods is well over 100 and seriously testing your energy supplies.
We have cooling centres here too and they also suggest seniors and others at risk go to malls, libraries, etc. to cool off.

That poem is very nice, a good reminder, I've been kind of a slacker mom the last couple of days. I guess I better participate in some adventures tomorrow!!

Great Poem. I love it. Probably because that happens around here a lot. Somedays I just don't do any housework and I'm just happy to get the kids to a park or play center. I just need to remember not to be hard on myself when I get back to the mess. Great reminder.

Love the poem. It fits in perfectly with my philosophy on life vs. cleanliness:
"This house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy."

I'm going to print the poem out and post it near the front door.

Try to stay cool. Does anyone still believe global warming is a myth?

I live exactly like that poem!

My house is clean, but not too clean. I'd rather spend time with my family than clean.

This is a very beautiful poem. It is simple but meaningful. Just like me and my grandson. There are days that house chores has to be set aside just he wants you to be with him. My priority is him as I know as he grows old, all that I do for him, he will never forget.

Hi Ann,

That reminds me another poem called babies don't keep, or something like that.

Hush back cob webs I'm rocking my baby because babies don't keep. Or something like that. Someone gave it to my sister-in-law Kristina at her baby shower, when she was expecting her first child.
