Gerald R. Ford - July 14, 1913 - December 26,2006

I'll be back tonight or tomorrow with holiday pictures. It would have been today but I woke up to this not unexpected news this morning.

President Ford was an honorable, decent man with a long history of service to our country. He tried, under difficult conditions, to pull the nation together and I believe history will reflect that in many respects he succeeded.

Elcie and I had a long talk about him and the Presidency this morning. Of course I remember all of it only too well.

He loved his country and his family and it showed. My prayers today are with his family.

All these people I have known all my life who die, make me sad! James Brown, Pres Ford. Like my past is dying.

It's always so sad, isn't it?!! The Americans do idolize (and rightly so) their leaders....it's a tragic day when we lose them.

I was 14 when he took the oath of office and I remember whitewater to but it never had an effect on me.

President Ford did bring the country back together.
To bad this president is tearing us a part now.
I see him not as a great uniter but a great divider.

Hi Ann,

I remember him too. When I was in junior high long (in the good o'l days before they call it middle school) the Watergate was going on, and then the impeachment proceeding, and our homework was to watch the news.

I thought he was a decent man too.

Hi Ann

I remember Gerald Ford after Richard Nixon's resignation. It seemed to me then, that he was a oasis of calm in a sea of madness that was happening at that time. He was a decent, honest man and, I feel, gave the USA a sense of pride again.

He has made his mark in history...

Dearest Ann...wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas! I know I'm a few days late but I'm just now catching up with everybody! The girls must have been absolutely delighted at all those gifts that were given to them...I can imagine how very touched you were by the generosity shown by this sports group!! Wonderful!! I look forward to seeing your pictures, I trust you had a lovely Christmas with family and friends:-) As for Gerald Ford's death, I was very saddened by the news also when I heard of it. Much love xox

He was a good guy. I've forgiven him for Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush Sr., Scalia, etc. How could he have known??? Also, I think he loved his wife, which is v. cool, in my book.

I remember liking him. Think of the mess that he got stuck with. Must have been hell, like walking into a pit of snakes. The only thing I saw as questionable was his pardoning of Nixon.
