Our Weather Can't Make a Simple Decision

Day before yesterday was springlike in the afternoon. Yesterday started out foggy and stayed cold most of the day. Today, more of the same but it warmed up a little. Tonight? Just above freezing. By Monday, we'll be blessed with a little more rain.

The rain and our one or two days of early spring caused yellow flowers to blossom in my yard. I have no clue what they are. I know they're weeds but I'm leaving them for now. They are bright and pretty. I found some toadstools as well. (For any of you who don't know what a toadstool is, it's an inedible mushroom that grows wild). We've also attracted a gathering of small birds. About the size and shape of a sparrow but yellow breasted. The cat stares out the window from her spot on the computer in fascination. We've always had a few birds but these are closer to a flock. The cold doesn't seem to bother them nor does the hard ground. They just keep pecking away. (Janice, you have any idea what they might be? You probably have them too). They're so cute and singleminded. It's all about food for them.

I spent the early part of the week taking down the tiny tree and wrapping my Christmas decorations while unwrapping the bell collection, etc. to go back on display. This time around, I found room for all my non-Christmas bells although they're rather crowded.

I have washed all the linen, area rugs, small blankets and afghans, rearranged the kitchen once again as well as my pantries and a couple of the cupboards. Oh, and I cleaned all the drip trays on the stove. Not my dirt, it was there when I bought the stove but I was too frazzled then to notice. They're much better now.

And I made a fair sized pan of lasagna. We're eating the last of it tonight, Tomorrow I'll start cooking again; probably a pot roast or stew in the crock pot. And biscuits? I'm used to my oven by now so probably.

It's great to be feeling a little more human. Ray's pretty much over his cold as well.

I stopped by Barnes & Noble on Saturday afternoon to treat my friends and their little girl to a hot drink and so Destiny could shop with her gift certificate (my Christmas present to her). I was reading and waiting when this voice behind me said "what are you doing here". It was number one son, home on an unexpected long weekend off. He has a friend that lives about 60 miles further north and they've been sharing expenses and riding together. I think there are 4 soldiers all in this same general area so they all get to come home more often. It was good to see him; even briefly.

This morning I went out for my usual Tuesday coffee date with friend Janet (postponed to Wednesday). We always have a great time.

I came home and started reading blogs. Unless some of you were removed (not by me of course) from Bloglines, I'm caught up (although I may not have commented on all). My eyes are finally behaving. I couldn't read for more than few minutes with that darn cold.

I haven't heard from the girls since the first week in January. It's the longest they've gone between calls. I'm not exactly worried but it would be good to hear from them. Hoping it's just because they started back to school and are very busy.

Thanks to all of you who surfaced on Delurking Day (or week) and to all my other faithful friends who've stuck with me for so long.

Take care everyone.

Dear Ann ~~ I am so glad you and Ray are both feeling better at last. And it makes you feel good to sort out and clean a few cupboards. That's a big job for me these days. Has to be one at a time. Guess that is the best way to go anyway. I hope the girls ring soon, but as you say they are probably busy starting a new year at school. Glad you liked the sewing machine joke. I hope I am still on your bloglines, probably under M as I see my Header says "Merle's Third Try." My brother put that on with the photo. Take care, dera friend
and look after yoursef and Ray. Much love, Merle.

Wow! You're a busy lady. Say, when you're finished, shall I give you my address? Heh.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and settling in there.

Take care,
Josie

Hmm...maybe goldfinches? Their winter plumage isn't as bright as their Spring/Summer breeding plumage.

Glad you're feeling better. I was feeling lots better but never really kicked my cold/sinus infection/virus/flu or whatever it was/is. Now I'm all clogged up again and coughing and sound more like John Wayne than his sister. I don't feel as bad as I did back yonder, but I'm not feeling my best either.

I need to do some cleaning but until I get to feeling better it's not going to happen. I've got to do some laundry tomorrow or go naked. It's that simple and that dire.

Hopefully I'll make some progress on our project tomorrow. I'll let you know if I find out anything new.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Hi Ann,

Glad you are both feeling well, we are on the best side of this bug that has swept the country.
As to the yellow flowers - not weeds because you like them - that makes them wild flowers, :) I love nothing better than to see masses of Dandelions flowering.
Take Care.

Good Morning Granny,
I'm so glad that you and Ray are feeling much better. There's still alot of sinus/crud stuff going on around here, but with the way the weather has been, it's a wonder everyone doesn't have pneumonia. I don't know much about birds. I know a Blue Bird, Cardinal, Blue Jay, and a few others. So, I couldn't be of much help with you on that. I bet the Lasagna was good. Our girls don't seem to care for it that much, so I've never made it. I fixed some Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup Tuesday night for our supper. We still have some left and I will heat it up for our supper tonight. We ate from Burger King last night. I'm glad you got to see your Son. Maybe the girls are just busy with school and all. Do they play any kind of sports? If they do, that could be keeping them pretty busy as well. It is a cold and foggy morning here. Not real foggy, but just enough to mess things up. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
P.S. "THANK YOU" for remembering me and my Family in your prayers. I appreciate it so much.

Hi Ann,

Happy you and Ray are feeling better and things are getting back to normal for you.

The weather here has been yucky for a couple days- no sunshine at all...just drizzly rain.

Take care,

Junie

Surprises of the pleasant kind are always nice to have. Our weather has been strange too. It will snow, get warm, start to melt all the snow and then freeze, so all that water makes everything into a skating rink. Love it!

You've started spring cleaning early. Wish I could get motivated. If only the weather would buck up. Britain is slowly sinking in the ooze:)

Hi Ann,
You met your hubby at AA and got to know him over 9 yrs, that sounds great, and theres me thinking I need to rush to get to know her, it all happens in Gods time not mine doesnt it.
It is the first person I have met for ages that I have really liked, most none AA people cant understand you, they look for nights out and getting out of it.
Only thing is she doesnt even know I like her yet, weve had a few chats and I feel real comfortable with her but I am just so shy I darent ask her out and anyway where would I go, I aint got a clue with restaurants and the idea of eating in front of someone sort of dont appeal, you know I would just love to go for a walk with her, or go camping in the woods that sort of thing.
I think Im in love u know
